Salesforce Enables Citizen Developers With Low-Code Mobile App Dev Solution

In light of the rapid proliferation of mobile application development and usage, Salesforce has announced a suite of tools specifically aimed at alleviating some of the pressure placed on companies to develop competitive mobile experiences. With the release of Lightning Platform Mobile, Salesforce is providing citizen developers with a low-code development environment and pre-built JavaScript components that should help jumpstart the mobile app development process.

The first of three components to this announcement is Mobile Builders, a development environment that promises to allow admins to, “turn spreadsheets into mobile apps, design their app’s data model, and configure the app UI using simple clicks.” With Mobile Builders users can also take advantage of over 180 ready-made components via the Salesforce AppExchange.

Salesforce also announced Mobile Services, which aims to simplify adding backend services to applications. Whether users want to take advantage of Salesforce Einstein’s AI services, or simply integrate with third-party data, this tool aims to streamline the process.

This release also sees the announcement of Mobile Publisher, a tool that is designed to handle the entire process of packaging and submitting applications to the Apple App Store and Google Play
