Samsung is Launching an API, SDK for Its Bixby Voice Assistant

Samsung is preparing to launch an API and SDK for Bixby, its new voice assistant that is integrated into its new Galaxy Home smart speaker.

That smart speaker is intended to compete with similar devices from Amazon and Google, and Bixby is Samsung's answer to Amazon's Alexa voice assistant, which is now integrated into 20,000 devices according to the retail giant.

According to CNBC, which spoke to DJ Koh, the CEO of Samsung's mobile division, the Korean consumer electronics company will launch the Bixby API to allow Bixby to be integrated into other apps, while the SDK will give developers the ability to make apps with Bixby.

Koh indicated that the API and SDK would be officially announced and released to developers in November Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco.
