Earlier this year, Twitter introduced Twitter Kit 3 as the first standalone SDK version of Twitter Kit. The original launch was limited to Android and iOS. Twitter has now expanded Twitter Kit 3 to Unity. With the announcement, Twitter hopes to add a new social element to games of all kind.
"Whether celebrating a new high score, sharing action replays, or finding friends to challenge, Twitter is a fun complement to gaming," Ben Ward, a Twitter Product Manager, commented in a company blog post. "[Twitter Kit for Unity] makes it easy for your users to log in and compose Tweets from right inside your games, and for you to access the Twitter API for login and social integrations.
Twitter Kit for Unity is available at no cost in the Unity Asset Store. Further, Twitter has opened sourced Twitter Kit for Unity. To contribute, check out the contributing site at GitHub. Twitter Kit for Unity enables user authorization, Tweet composition within games, and gaming experience/moment sharing. The Unity version provides cross-platform support so use seamless moves to iOS and Android based games as well. Getting started is as simple as 1: download Twitter Kit frameworks, 2: build the Android wrapper, 3: export the Unity package. Visit GitHub for more details.
