Vonage has announced that users of its Messages API now have access to a Sandbox environment to help develop their chat and messaging applications. Out of the box the sandbox will let developers link to WhatsApp, Viber or Facebook Messenger and start sending messages from a Vonage business number.
API sandboxes are considered a best practice for developer portals. They are protected environments that allow an API consumer test the functionality of their applications against sample data in a way that mimics a production environment. This allows developers to test out new concepts without risking production code.
Registered users will have access to the sandbox at no charge. For set up, developers will need a smartphone with WhatsApp, Viber, or Facebook Messenger installed. If you are interested, you can register with Vonage for access.
