What’s New In ProgrammableWeb’s Directories - Thursday, April 9, 2015

Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. In the last day, 6 new APIs, 3 new clients , and 3 source code samples were added to ProgrammableWeb’s directories. Here’s a summary of the additions:

APIs

The Harvard Dataverse Network (DVN) is a project for sharing, archiving, and citing scientific research data. It includes the world's largest repository of social science data. The Data Deposit API allows users to deposit data and metadata to the Harvard DVN. We’ve primarily categorized the Data Deposit API under the Data category. Solace Systems provides middleware for messaging services. The Solace Unified API provides a uniform client access to Solace's features including messaging, WAN optimization, web streaming, IPC messaging and message caching. We’ve primarily categorized the SolaceUnified API under the Messaging category. The Accurate Background API allows developers to integrate FCRA-compliant background screening into their web and mobile applications. It can screen thousands of individuals at once and provides automated access to court databases, driving records, identity checks, etc. The API is provided by Accurate Background, a company that provides employee screening and human resource support services. We’ve primarily categorized the Accurate Background API under the Human Resources category. RASON™ is a mini-language, embedded in JSON, that allows users to quickly and easily create and solve analytic models -- currently optimization and simulation/risk analysis models, soon to include data mining and predictive analytics models. The simple RASON Analytics REST API allows users to solve the largest RASON models from their Web SPA or mobile app. We’ve primarily categorized the RASON Analytics API under the Optimization category. The HubSpot Email Events API allows developers to integrate the Hubspot marketing software into their applications, enabling their users to access information regarding their email's lifecycle and how the recipient interacts with its content. HubSpot is an inbound marketing software platform that provides companies a way to attract visitors, convert leads, and close customers. We’ve primarily categorized the HubSpot Email Events API under the Email category. The EAN Room Availability API allows developers to integrate the Expedia database for rooms into their applications, enabling their users to search for available rooms by hotel or guest count. This is a RESTful API. EAN stands for Expedia Affiliate Network, a service provided by Expedia. We’ve primarily categorized the EAN Room Availability API under the Availability category. Clients

In celebration of National Beer Day, we’ve added some clients that make it easier for developers to work with the Open Beer Database API (Track this API); a free database of beer and brewery information. Developers can use Open Beer Database Ruby SDK by Tristan Dunn, or Open Beer Database Python SDK or Open Beer Database PHP SDK by Matthew Hokanson to access the Open Beer Database API.

Source Code

Omeka provides a web publishing platform for online digital collections for libraries, museums and other cultural entities. The Omeka REST Conversion Tool by Patrick Murray-John contains sample codes for converting data from Omeka API to CSV file. Omeka REST Python Code Example by W. Caleb McDaniel contains sample codes for making requests to the Omeka REST API using Python. And Omeka REST Conversion Tool by Patrick Murray-John contains sample codes for converting data from Omeka API to CSV file.

Getty Images provides an API for developers to integrate content into applications and provide functions such as searching from the Getty Images catalog. The company provides PHP and Javascript sample codes for making requests to the Getty Images API.

Finally, Imgur photo sharing service provides an API for uploading images. Imgur Android Objective-C Code Example by Geoff MacDonald contains sample codes for making requests.
