Wishpot's New API Framework Creates End-to-End Shopping Experience

Wishpot typically brings "lists" to mind. With Wishpot's original service, users could create a single wish list from multiple sites. The service eliminated the need for a new list for every site in which a shopper was interested. Wishpot has now expanded the wish list experience into a full shopping experience with a new API framework that provides true social commerce (shopping/browsing through checkout from the same Platform).

The API Framework allows developers to create standalone social commerce platforms or integrate with existing apps. Specifically targeted at mobile apps, developers can monetize entertainment apps by integrating a Wishpot API. Wishpot CEO, Max Ciccotosto, sees a wide range of uses. For example, consider a handyman app. Once the handyman utilizes the inherent capabilities of the app (e.g. design, materials, budget, etc.), the Wishpot APIs can integrate with the app to suggest product, pull product pricing information, and allow the user to purchase the suggested product through paypal.

The API utilizes RESTful calls and responses and is formatted in XML. Developers can upload feeds through the API or create standalone marketplaces with the white label capability. The stand alone platform utilizes all of the traditional Wishpot features (lists, brands, users, etc.).

Wishpot has combined two web experiences into a single platform. Most web experiences require the user to create a wish list as a first step. Then, when the user determines what to purchase, the user must go to individual sites and make separate purchases. Wishpot has completed the social commerce experience and created unlimited possibilities in monetizing previously revenue-void applications.
