In our previous post we provided an overview of Google's cloud infrastructure and talked of the Google Prediction API. To use the Google Prediction API we do have to use the storage from within Google Storage API. Google Cloud Storage is a RESTful service for storing and accessing your data on Google's infrastructure which has been open since May 2011 for public access.
Last week MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) provided developers with a signal that it may be emerging as the de facto protocol for the IoT. This validation comes in the light of positive MQTT Interoperability Test Day results that were published by the host of the event: The Eclipse Foundation and the Eclipse IoT Working Group.
While some folks tend to think about APIs are being little bits of arcane code that only developers care about it, the truth of the matter is that billions, possibly even trillions, of dollars are at stake in what will soon be a series of API wars. In no place is this more important than in mobile banking, where companies ranging from Google, the PayPal unit of eBay and lesser known entities such as MineralTree are all vying to usurp the role of traditional financial institutions.
