The DataTank Offers API Tool to Help Power Smart Cities
A new API tool that transforms open datasets so they can be accessed by a REST API is capturing the attention of local governments interested in implementing smart cities policies. The DataTank is a data publishing platform that can also be used as a plug-in with the CKAN open data platform. SciFinder Now Available via API
Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has announced that the SciFinder interface now includes a series of APIs that allows researchers and developers to integrate SciFinder functionality and the CAS database with third party research tools and workflows. SciFinder constitutes the world's largest chemistry database, and many scientist use the service to launch new research and as a reference check throughout the research process.
Google Releases Fusion Tables API for Visualizing and Sharing Data
Google has released a new API for Fusion Tables, a Google Labs app that allows users to import, integrate, analyze, and visualize data in a variety of ways. The new API allows developers to programmatically perform a variety of tasks, including data import and export (more at our Google Fusion Tables API Profile). The API itself is integrated with several other Google APIs, including the Google Maps API and the Google Visualization API. In fact, developers can also leverage App Engine to easily develop data processing and analysis apps that easily integrate with various other Google APIs.
