One of the bigger challenges with anything involving APIs is scale. As the number of APIs proliferate, the scalability demands from a management perspective become increasing untenable. Nowhere does that become more apparent than when dealing with mobile computing applications.
An independent security researcher and software developer recently discovered that the developers of the Verizon Hum website had left an API username and password in JSON embedded in JavaScript. Verizon has fixed the error removing the API username and password from the website source code.
The API provides programmatic access to real-time data from the proprietary FirstRain business graph and helps increase use of predictive analytics in enterprise applications.
