Google has added one of the most popular features of its consumer Google Maps product to the Google Maps API. Predictive travel time is oft-used by consumers to find best routes, and avoid traffic. Now, developers have access to the feature and can integrate the functionality into third party apps.
If you are as optimistic as we were about Twitter's location features, you should be downright giddy now. Twitter has acquired the company--and staff--behind one of the most innovative mapping-related APIs. Mixer Labs' GeoAPI , previously known as TownMe, hosts your geographic data and allows spatial queries such as "find the closest location" (for more see our earlier TownMe news coverage and our TownMe API profile).
AOL has announced that its MapQuest service now supports OpenID logins as part of the new My MapQuest capability. AOL has long been an OpenID innovator. As AOL's George Fletcher reminds us, AOL was one of the earliest OpenID providers.
