Recognizing that the ultimate success of the IBM Watson cognitive computing platform is directly tied to the amount of developer support it attracts, IBM has launched a contest in which it will work with the winner to bring to market mobile consumer and business apps powered by Watson.
Google just made it easier for more developers to get paid in more countries around the world. The company expanded how consumers can pay for apps in the Play Store, and added to the number of countries that can sell apps.
This week, Google announced a new top-level domain for mobile apps needing a home on the web: .app. Google sees many benefits for apps owning some space on the web, and its main selling point for the .app TLD is the built-in security requirements to communicate with an .app website.
