The hot new thing in the mobile world is Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and it’s possible they might spell the end for the humble native mobile app. Google has just effectively green-lighted PWAs to be the future of Android. Mobile expert Henrik Joreteg over at his blog explains.
Android P is closer to a reality. Google introduced the third beta for Android P. Because it is nearly final, there are no new APIs or features. Rather, this beta round focuses on bug fixes, stability, and moving to the latest security features. The final version will arrive this summer.
The Edge browser team at Microsoft says adjusting its app for devices that fold might be better handled with an API. The recommendation comes ahead of the market debut of several folding phones from Huawei and Samsung. Both phone companies have worked directly with developers to customize apps.
