Google Coordinate API enables mobile work teams to do four simple things that, when done by everyone on the team, can propel productivity: communicate, see everyone's location on a map, pinpoint and assign jobs, and notify and update each other constantly.
Push notification startup Urban Airship is closing the doors on all three APIs from the geo infrastructure company it acquired in October. The data behind one of the APIs, SimpleGeo Places, will be maintained by Factual and become part of its Factual API. Other SimpleGeo functionality is being folded into Urban Airship's platform.
One of the most important--and too often forgotten--pieces of a successful API is promoting what developers have built. Doing so should be a win-win, as both platform and developer should benefit from third-party apps being discovered by users. Location-sharing service FourSquare just re-vamped its application gallery and now any developer can be included.
