Google has announced the release of the Google My Business API version 4.2 containing new endpoints that will let third-party partners create end-to-end onboarding experiences for their merchants on their own platforms. Google My Business offers merchants the ability to create business listings.
Startups need to build quickly and iterate quicker. That means not re-inventing the wheel -- whenever possible. Just 5 years ago, people were asking why would you use an API? This has quickly turned to why wouldn't you! Since March 2007 there are 14 times as many APIs listed on the ProgrammableWeb site. And the growth rate is accelerating. API listings on ProgrammableWeb have exploded this year so far, doubling the same period last year, and about four times the same period in 2010 (see chart below).
Point.io thinks employees should have access to documents, not only from any device but from any storage system, whether that system exists in a public cloud or the backend of an enterprise. To that end, the company launched its Point.io API earlier this week.
