Microsoft has joined the likes of Google and Mozilla with its release of the WebRTC 1.0 API. The release enables real-time audio, video, chat, and file sharing across platforms and browsers. With the first release, Microsoft is focused on delivering RTC functionality in existing, legacy websites.
MMOG designer ArenaNet is transforming its popular Guild Wars 2 by opening up its code to be redeployed by users via APIs. Players can make their own iOS and Android apps as well as build tools to use in the game. The Guild Wars 2 API will likely become extremely popular among its huge user base for what Time Magazine called "#1 VideoGame of 2012."
"Every day, movies expire from Netflix Watch Instantly," Twitter's Robin Sloan tweeted. So, the one-time Current TV online strategist decided to do something about it. Using the Netflix API, he wrote a program to find the movies that are about to expire. Then, he tweets them out from @queuenoodle, an account that has already hit nearly 4,000 followers in a day.
