These days everything from your mobile phone to desktop PC will most likely have an internet connection. This means you you can send an email, collaborate on a document or share a photo between almost any device using the myriad of web services that are available today. But printers are still stuck in a time when private networks reigned supreme, when it was rare that devices would be connected to the internet. This means printing a document from outside that network is convoluted process at best, and for most people it is just not possible. Google is looking to change that with Google Cloud Print.
Six APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Bitcoin, Images, Search, Email and Food. Highlights include an API that allows users to optimize search algorithms and an API for email testing. Here's a rundown of the latest additions for developers.
Printful, a drop shipping service for custom print products and a product of the same team who created Startup Vitamins and BeHappy.me, has provided the Printful API that will allow people to easily integrate the functionality with their websites and applications. The service is specifically aimed at small and medium websites that want to offer print products, but don't want to handle the fulfillment and shipping of those products.
