Panasonic has announced a facial recognition API under its μSockets B2B IoT service. Although Panasonic has built a strong portfolio of facial recognition technology over the years, it has never provided access to the developer community at large through an API. It is currently available in Japan.
Microsoft has joined the likes of Google and Mozilla with its release of the WebRTC 1.0 API. The release enables real-time audio, video, chat, and file sharing across platforms and browsers. With the first release, Microsoft is focused on delivering RTC functionality in existing, legacy websites.
Google intends to shut down the Google Hangouts API on April 25th. The change means developers will not be able to create new apps using the API, and any existing apps that rely on the API will effectively be left for dead on their feet. Why? So Google can further refine Hangouts for the enterprise.
