Mastercard, a company that once warned that the risks of digital currency outweigh the benefits, has released two new blockchain APIs to promote collaboration and innovation in the digital exchange of value. Through its Mastercard Labs arm, Mastercard has indicated the API release is just the start.
Mastercard's new service, Consumer Control, enables consumers to monitor their digital footprint through understanding where their credit card credentials are stored across the internet. Mastercard is providing access to Consumer Control through an API that integrates with online banking services.
Nineteen APIs have been added to ProgrammableWeb in categories including Credit Cards, Messaging, and Gambling. Highlights include an API for issuing physical and virtual Stripe payment cards, and the Alexa Customer Profile API for retrieving Alexa customer contact information.
