Ten APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories such as Cryptocurrency, Monitoring, and Mapping. Highlights include APIs for programmatic access to the City of Seattle datasets, and the Apple MapKit JS API and SDK. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.
NodePing, website and server monitoring service, offers the NodePing API that enables IT departments to incorporate NodePing functionality into third party apps and existing maintenance and monitoring tools. Every minute, NodePing sends messages to a variety of services and protocols (e.g. SSL, HTTP, IMAP4, DNS, etc.) to ensure a site or server remains up and running. If NodePing receives an error, users can identify an unlimited amount of contacts to receive alerts via email, text, voice, Twitter, webhook, and more.

These metrics are defined by the Public Library of Science (PLOS) as measuring usage, citations, social bookmarking and activity, media coverage (including blogs), ratings and discussion activity. The Altmetric API provides access to its metrics that are derived from its database of over 300,000 articles and over 8,000 journals.
