Most companies need help with their phone support. Parents want a safe way to let their kids to call relatives without sharing their increasingly-important mobile phone. And businesses have an insatiable appetite for better sales information or help hiring great developers. All of these problems are solved in the most recent contest from telephony-as-a-service provider (and ProgrammableWeb sponsor) Twilio. The company typically runs a weekly contest for its Twilio API, but gave devs twice as long for this mega-contest, which also produced five winners.
Producer and Comedian Ricky Gervais (in partnership with CloudTalk), has just launched the first-ever voice conversation application for social media. Just Sayin’ is a free cloud based iPhone application that makes it possible for users to cross-post conversations to their Twitter and Facebook profiles. Users can share any combination of voice, text, photos, and video.
Telephony platform Twilio has a long running developer contest, giving Netbooks and Twilio credit to the winners. Recently it had a special contest, in which the winners could meet with Union Square Ventures partners for lunch. The winner of the contest is Asthmapolis, a site that helps track, manage and research asthma.
