Dropbox has officially deprecated the Dropbox API v1. While Dropbox encourages developers to transition to v2, and start all new builds with v2, v1 will remain available until June 28, 2017. However, all new features will be added solely to v2. The deprecation includes both Core and Business APIs.
File Storage APIs have gone mainstream in the last year and developers are in a race to integrate the popular file storage options that are available to users on the internet. Dropbox has been one of the key players and, with the release of the Dropbox API aims to push the envelope by releasing not just support for newer features like sharing and search but also with the release of developer SDKs to maximize its reach across developers.
ProgrammableWeb last checked in on Box's OneCloud platform last summer. Since then, Box has enjoyed nothing but success, and Box has announced that OneCloud has now surpassed the 1,000 mark for apps that integrate with the OneCloud ecosystem. With the announcement, Box reiterated the simple, straightforward goal it proclaimed with the OneCloud launch in 2012: "In March of 2012, we launched OneCloud with a simple, yet ambitious purpose: to redefine the way enterprises worked on mobile."
