Netherlands-based bank ABN AMRO has launched the first version of its developer portal and a set of commercial APIs. Developers can use the APIs to add to applications banking capabilities such as generating payment requests, retrieve real-time balance information, and transfer multiple payments.
Mobile payment service Venmo, which is owned and operated by PayPal, abruptly shut off new developers from its public API, which handles payment invoices and distribution of receipts to external web services. Venmo had created confusion after first stating that it was shuttering its API altogether.
Dwolla has launched a number of services and APIs in the recent past in an attempt to achieve its goal of "building the ideal API to move money." In an attempt to streamline its various services, Dwolla has repositioned its Access API to act as the umbrella to house all of its payment services.
