Checking medical symptoms on the internet has gained in popularity. Everybody wants to find out the potential disease underlying a health condition. For this reason, an increasing number of health websites are providing a symptom checker for their users.
Last week, HP officially launched commercial plans for Haven OnDemand, a machine learning platform that offers developers a suite of APIs they can use to "turn virtually any data into an asset anytime and anywhere." The platform entered beta in 2014 and offers more than offers more than 60 APIs.
At this year’s Defrag conference, several themes emerged: identity management and security, quantified self and (of course) robotics. And, although the conference claimed to have APIs as a common theme (and it did), the APIs themselves were part of a much bigger and louder conversation about what they enable. Along with big data comes APIs' ability to use the data to instruct the things around us. We may be enabling data transfers among machines faster than we can interpret the data and the legalities around using it.
