Topsy, a leading social analytics solutions provider, has just announced the launch of a brand new set of social data APIs that have been added to Topsy API Services. The new set of APIs allow developers to integrate social metrics, insights, and content from any time period or in real time directly into applications.
StockTwits, a financial communications platform for the financial and investing community, has announced major enhancements to its API offering. The original release of the StockTwits API allowed third party apps to access the StockTwits social graph, integrate watch lists, share messages, and access charts directly from a third party application. With the new release, messages now include charts, videos, and user stats/sentiment. Additionally, community contributed data now links back to the site/app from where the contribution originated.
The growth in APIs is rapidly expanding. That's clear. Social has out-paced overall API growth and in the last year settled in as a major trend. Sure, there are big names, like the Facebook API and Twitter API. There are also newcomers like Google Plus and Pinterest. There are now well over 800 social APIs, helping developers capitalize on humans' natural desire to communicate with each other.
