More and more consumers are using a second device (usually a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet) while watching television. Many consumers are using their "second-screen" to update their Facebook status, post on Twitter, chat with friends or engage in other online social activities.
Snapchat launched its developer platform. Named Snap Kit, Snapchat has finally reached out to the developer community with a series of API-based tools that allow developers to integrate Snapchat features within third party apps. Creative Kit, Login Kit, Bitmoji Kit, and Story Kit make up Snap Kit.
With APIs becoming more and more prominent, a growing number of companies are finding success with API-only or API-centric offerings. So is building customer-facing applications a thing of the past? While there is good reason to believe that the trend toward API-focused companies will continue and even accelerate, there are still virtues to building end-to-end solutions.
