MachineShop plans to deliver a service that normalizes all the data being collected across the Internet of Things (IoT). The MachineShop service, formally launched today with $3 million in funding, normalizes data formats across a wide range of APIs. It connects devices in a way that provides access to a common set of business logic, event management and communications services that MachineShop manages.
Mobile provider T-Mobile has informed 2.3m of its subscribers that personal data associated with their accounts was exposed to an attacker as the result of an unprotected API. According to the company, the data exposed included name, billing zip code, phone number, email address and account number.
In the age of the cloud, integration is everything. What was once a labor-intensive service is rapidly becoming a set of capabilities in the cloud that IT organizations can dynamically invoke as needed. We’re still some distance from making that integration process completely turnkey. But we’re getting a little closer with each passing day.
