Google has open sourced its Cloud Search Connector SDK. The goal is to ease the search of third-party content and identities within a company. Google originally partnered with around 50 partners around the world to build third-party connectivity for Cloud Search and has now opened up a public SDK.
Microsoft announced a number of new API features within its Project Oxford artificial intelligence platform. The Face API was updated with facial hair and smile prediction. Other tools were officially opened up for public beta (e.g. spell check, CRIS, video editing, and more).
Cloud application platform, Heroku, has released the Heroku Platform API. The Platform API allows developers to extend its cloud platform to third party applications and services. With the release, Heroku hopes to inspire apps built upon the Heroku platform, Heroku-based developer tools, and an expanded Heroku ecosystem into additional web services. The Platform API developed from an internal API that Heroku developers used to build tools like toolbelt and dashboard. Heroku wants to empower its developer community with the same tools it created for in-house use.
