The tension that has been building for months between Amazon and supporters of the OpenStack cloud computing framework is finally starting to boil over. This week Hewlett-Packard announced that it will no longer support the Amazon Web Services API on the public cloud computing service it unfurled earlier this week. According to a statement released to ProgrammableWeb by by Roger Levy, vice president and general manager for HP Public Cloud, the issue comes down to Amazon’s ongoing effort to lock customers into a proprietary API.
Appy Pie, cloud based mobile apps builder, has announced the inclusion of two new music APIs for its Do-it-Yourself mobile application platform. Integration with the SoundCloud and Beatport APIs will allow users to access their music libraries remotely without consuming mobile device memory.
GitHub Enterprise 2.14 is now available, and it includes a number of new tools for developers including unified search, Checks API (public beta), multiple issue templates, and several tools for easier Administration. The Checks API is only available for use with GitHub Apps.
