Samsung and the Tizen Association recently made the Tizen Software Development Kit for Wearables available from the Tizen developer web site. The SDK supports any wearable running Samsung's Tizen operating system, but that's an extremely limited number of devices at the moment, with just the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches filling the space.

UK-based Lanyrd, "the social conference directory," recently launched foursquare integration which aims to reward you with more than just points for checking into an event venue. Named after "the thing you wear around your neck at some conferences," Lanyrd offers a user-generated directory of different events, such as technology trade shows, hackathons, and unconferences like BarCamp. Now you can connect Lanyrd to your foursquare account and, after you check in at an event venue, jump over to the Lanyrd mobile app or web site to see more event information.
Recognizing that the ultimate success of the IBM Watson cognitive computing platform is directly tied to the amount of developer support it attracts, IBM has launched a contest in which it will work with the winner to bring to market mobile consumer and business apps powered by Watson.
