Open data startup Enigma has released its platform to the public and now provides the open Enigma API so that developers can begin drawing on open data sources and feeding them into their applications. Co-founder Marc DaCosta spoke with ProgrammableWeb about the importance of encouraging developer involvement, and why Enigma can succeed when other open data platforms have had difficulties building a sustainable model.
Of the many APIs we published this week, six were highlighted on the blog by our team of writers. In this post, we will toss those six into the spotlight, which include the Internet DJ API. The Internet DJ API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of the Internet DJ site into their application. The functionality allows for access to site news, forum, music and new release, mixes, song of the day, and data about pretty much everything the site has to offer. API requests are limited to 5,000 a day and responses are formatted in JSON.
The ProgrammableWeb directory eclipsed the 22,000-API mark in June 2019 and this milestone gives us a chance to look at what the data can tell us about the API economy. The directory has seen new APIs added at a 30% increase over the previous four years signaling that the API economy remains strong.
