The U.S. Federal Government has been making a push to increase accessibility to data managed and maintained by various government agencies and departments. Recently Business.gov, the government's official web site for small businesses (sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration), has released an API that provides access to various types of data that will can benefit small businesses.
At the end of last year, LinkedIn announced major changes to its APIs and developer program. Those changes will soon take effect, and developers need to migrate accordingly by March 1. New developer program features, version 2 of its API, and the use of OAuth 2.0 will all be requirements on March 1.
Handling API calls in the cloud with a service like AWS Lambda is one of the latest ways enterprises try to save on resources. In theory, you can save a ton of money. But be careful. Costs for API calls can mount up, sometimes leaving you with a cloud computing bill ten times the size you expected.
