Amazon Web Services truly arrived when Amazon S3 launched in 2006. Over the last 10 years, the service has adapted to a changing technological landscape as it broke new ground in cloud services. Here we look at 10 lessons from those 10 years from Amazon.com CTO Werner Vogels.
The Wevideo API opens up this video-editing-in-the-cloud service. Technical information on the API is available directly from the company. Wevideo provides a solid set of editing and storyboard tools including a timeline and a library of soundtracks. Beyond that, the cloud gives movie editors something else: the ability to collaborate with ease. Because you can create copies of footage, different people can edit the same video as they please.
This week, Amazon announced a new addition to their AWS web service Amazon Glacier, which offers "extremely low cost archive storage" and easy setup for anyone already familiar with AWS. Though the pricing model seems convoluted, the continued expansion of Amazon's cloud computing services is good news for developers.
