Today at its latest Campfire One event, Google announced major updates to Google App Engine, their scalable cloud computing platform for web applications. App Engine developers will soon be able to create web-scale applications using standard Java APIs, and will be able to create AJAX components using Google's Web Toolkit. Other major features include cron support for scheduling tasks, tools for securely accessing and importing data, and a new Google development plugin for the Eclipse IDE.
Following last July’s beta-release, Contentful has now moved into full General Availability this week. The platform-agnostic, API-driven content management service allows content producers and app developers to deliver composable blocks of content on any device. The Contentful API is already being used internationally by brand names and media partners, and has perked the interest of Adam Wiggins, Founder of Heroku, who recently joined Contentful’s Advisory Board. Producer and Comedian Ricky Gervais (in partnership with CloudTalk), has just launched the first-ever voice conversation application for social media. Just Sayin’ is a free cloud based iPhone application that makes it possible for users to cross-post conversations to their Twitter and Facebook profiles. Users can share any combination of voice, text, photos, and video.
