Spotify has just added the Spotify Web API to Mashape, a popular marketplace where cloud APIs can be distributed, monetized, managed and consumed. Developers can use the Spotify API to search and display data such as albums, artists and music tracks from Spotify's vast music database.
In another example of the ongoing battle over copyright, LyricWiki, the popular song lyric index and wiki, recently announced a major change that significantly reduces the functionality of its API (our LyricWiki API Profile). Although the API has not been shut down completely, the recent modification removes the core functionality that allows users to retrieve song lyrics.
BandPage creates a platform where musicians, fans and others in the music industry can interact easily. For musicians, it can be difficult to stay connected to fans who are scattered all over the web. BandPage aims to rectify this issue by providing musicians with a one-stop-shop solution; update once and publish everywhere. Bands simply create a BandPage profile and all their info is updated across various other online channels as well. The BandPage API allows third party developers to access this data and integrate it into other applications.
