Facebook has released Conceal, a set of Java APIs for fast encryption and data authentication. Conceal was developed to encrypt large data files (e.g., SD cards) on Android. With the release, Facebook targets older Android devices with less memory and slower processors. Facebook currently deploys Conceal to help protect users' private data and is now launching its functionality to the developer community.
Google today released Android Q developer beta 4 with what the company says are the platform's final APIs and official SDK. This means developers now have the final set of tools they need to code apps for Android Q, which Google will release later this summer. Google also has plans for Firebase.
Android P is closer to a reality. Google introduced the third beta for Android P. Because it is nearly final, there are no new APIs or features. Rather, this beta round focuses on bug fixes, stability, and moving to the latest security features. The final version will arrive this summer.
