Germany-based "business social network" XING announced this week that the XING API is now officially out of beta, and invited external developers to register for access at dev.xing.com. Since March of this year, the XING API has been available as a "closed beta," and XING reported that over three thousand developers tried out the API during that period, "creating almost 150 active apps and producing around 17 million API requests per day."
In the age of the cloud, integration is everything. What was once a labor-intensive service is rapidly becoming a set of capabilities in the cloud that IT organizations can dynamically invoke as needed. We’re still some distance from making that integration process completely turnkey. But we’re getting a little closer with each passing day.
More analytics applications than ever are being developed using the open source R programming language. This means integrating these applications with all the other applications that need to consume that information has become something of a challenge. With the release of version 7.0 of its commercial implementation of an R programming environment, Revolution Analytics is trying to simplify that process.
