Facebook SDK for Android integrates with Facebook with the aim to build social apps and engage audiences. This SDK requires Android API level 9. It offers bolts, audience network, and Facebook packages. Android SDK includes login, app events, share, ads, custom stories, graph API, app links, send request, and app center. The particular functionality of each feature aims to enhance development experience. For example, app events measure the effectiveness of an application according to users' behavior; ads can increase user engagement via news feed; custom stories show how to use the Object API; and app links allows to handle incoming links to redirect users to an application using shared posts, stories, and requests.
Google recently released Soli Sandbox, an Android app for Project Soli on the Pixel 4 phone. Project Soli, enabled by a dedicated chip on the Pixel 4, allows Pixel 4 owners to interact with their phone via certain gestures. The timing of the app's release is puzzling, given Soli's uncertain future.
During undergrad, I worked on a few side projects, with most of them using some sort of social-networking API. It was great learning some new skills and at the same time it was rewarding to tap into the vast networks of established sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Cue to postgrad and I had to complete a research component as part of my course requirements. With a nudge from my supervisor I asked the question: "Is it viable to have a generic social networking API? Will it be useful?"
What makes a trip to a restaurant a great experience is not just the fact that they serve delicious food and good wine, but it has a lot to do with the atmosphere and overall 'vibe' of the place. Of course, a 'good vibe' means different things to different people (some like it chilled and some like it loud and bustling), so imagine how cool it would be to be able to browse through dining options based on the exact atmosphere you're looking for. That's what Hoppit is all about; finding restaurants by atmosphere. Hoppit's API provides access to this handy functionality.
