Building a customer relationship management (CRM) system in this age of social media isn't about just having name, address, phone and email anymore. You need be able to use all channels possible for communicating and interacting with your customers. Its not just about calling, mailing or emailing your customers anymore, you have to actually engage them on whatever platforms and social networks they use on a daily basis.
Buffer, a social media manger, opened the Buffer API last week beyond its internal apps. According to co-founder, Leo Wildrich, the decision sprung from its single purpose as a company: "How can we make sharing links, videos and images to your social networks easier and more powerful?" Unlike its main competitors, Hootsuite and Sprout Social, Buffer "focus[es] on non-original content sharing, especially photos, videos and articles" states Tech Crunch. As Buffer launches its API, and attempts to make sharing easier, Wildrich stressed that Buffer aims "to build a new sharing standard...across the web."
USA Today is continuing its march towards opening up more of its data via its USA Today API. The newspaper company most recently made available articles, including blog posts, newspaper stories and wire feeds back to 2004. The latest set of APIs announced includes three reviews APIs and a snapshots API that give access to USA Today’s movies, books and music reviews and its iconic statistical graphics.
