HiDrive is a cloud storage service. The HiDrive Android SDK allows an easy way to integrate an Android app with the HiDrive cloud storage platform. Interfacing with the HiDrive the API, Android developers are able to integrate tools such as user login, uploading files for storage, reading and writing files, performing file compression, creating picture thumbnails, as well as other functions. The API is free to incorporate into 3rd party applications or web-apps, and uses OAuth 2 for authentication. The Android SDK comes equipped with a sample RandomThumnail Android app as a tutorial on how to integrate with the HiDrive platform.
As much as mobile backend-as-a-service (BaaS) platforms free up developers from having to worry about the infrastructure that support their applications, they do generally come with a downside; most of them lock the developer into a particular cloud platform. With that issue in mind, FeedHenry created a namesake BaaS platform that took advantage of Node.js to create a BaaS platform that developers could deploy and ultimately move to any cloud platform of their choice.
