HiDrive is a cloud storage service. The HiDrive WinJS SDK supplies an easy way to integrate websites or Windows 8 apps with the HiDrive cloud storage platform. The WinJS SDK is well documented and can be accessed through GitHub. Interfacing with the HiDrive the API, web and Windows developers are able to integrate tools such as user login, uploading files for storage, reading and writing files, performing file compression, creating picture thumbnails, as well as other functions. The HiDrive API is free to incorporate into 3rd party applications or web-apps, and uses OAuth 2 for authentication.

While there’s generally a lot of excitement these days for all things Hadoop the simple fact is that there’s not a whole lot of expertise out there in terms of IT people that know how to build, roll out and then manage an instance of Hadoop.
