Facebook this week introduced two major sets of developer tools for interacting with its various services. The company released a new software development kit for Apple's Swift programming language, and added lots of new features to its Graph API 2.7. Both toolsets are available in preview form.
Music video content provider MTV recently announced that its Content API is out of private beta and available to the general public. Available as part of a new MTV Networks Developers Tools web site, the RESTful API gives access to content from MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo. The API supports a variety of open standards including OpenSearch and MediaRSS for data results (see our new MTV API profile for more details).
Sixteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Climate, Payments, and Database. Highlights include an API for searching music libraries by mood, genre, or BPM, and an API for compressing and optimizing images. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.
