London's Science Museum, founded in 1851, houses a number of historical innovations, including the oldest surviving steam locomotive, and a replica of Babbage's Difference Engine. Now, with the rollout of a new API to provide access to information about some of its exhibits, the museum itself has become an example of technological innovation.
The API for the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology’s (IRIS) Seismographs in Schools Program returns XML. It retrieves stations, station information, events, event information, and networks affiliated with IRIS.
The BioGRID API is a RESTful API using XML and HTML to access over 35,000 articles that document over 550,000 raw protein and genetic interactions. The API webpage gives 9 examples of interactions returned as results, including for the human MDM2 gene and between S. cerevisiae CDC27, APC1 and APC2.
