The official Intercom Node.js SDK by Intercom calls the Intercom API which provides business communication services. The developer can implement a system that can facilitate the retention and support of customers.
SaaS vendors need to get a clue about open APIs. That's the takeaway from a panel discussion at last month's Interop event in Las Vegas. According to Network World's coverage of the session on Herding Cats: Managing SaaS Sprawl, with panelists from Boomi, Appirio, OpSource, and NetSuite, too many SaaS vendors do not consider including an open API as a core part of their service:
It's surely a sign of APIs growing up when enterprise vendors are building tools to utilize them. Business management solutions company SAP AG has a new solution that helps businesses and organizations gain insights into market trends and customer sentiment in real-time. The "SAP Rapid-Deployment Solution for Sentiment Intelligence with SAP HANA" loads text data from any Web Channel that has a publicly available API. Once the data is into its system, SAP's software takes over.
Germany-based "business social network" XING announced this week that the XING API is now officially out of beta, and invited external developers to register for access at dev.xing.com. Since March of this year, the XING API has been available as a "closed beta," and XING reported that over three thousand developers tried out the API during that period, "creating almost 150 active apps and producing around 17 million API requests per day."
