Earlier this month, ProgrammableWeb reported that WSO2 had launched the WSO2 App Factory, a brand new cloud-enabled enterprise DevOps platform that allows project teams to collaborate on the creation, deployment and management of enterprise applications. WSO2 has just announced the launch of another brand new platform; the WSO2 User Engagement Server (UES), a platform that allows developers and enterprise professionals to create customized dashboards, microsites and gadgets with enterprise data and 3rd party data sources which makes it possible to convert volumes of data into valuable business insights and to create engaging user experiences.
As websites launch and web services scale, having a keen understanding of the traffic load impacts becomes a key issue for many businesses. It is a performance function that has been given front page news exposure this week, with US media reporting on the failure of Federal and State health agency sites to meet online traffic demand for information on new health insurance arrangements. Swedish startup Load Impact – which has just established a US office in San Francisco – provides services to help avoid performance failure caused by traffic surges to websites, or error returns due to high levels of polling to API services.
mBLAST has enhanced its mPACT API product in an attempt to target the academic community. Virtual-Strategy.com tells us that the new feature, titled mPACT API PhD, "Is designed to provide discovery, scoring and analytics across traditional and social media for academic administrators and faculty alike, providing solutions to assist in faculty recruitment and assessment, in development and in alumni engagement." The enhancement allows academic institutions to search for scholarly material presented by academics in non-traditional venues (e.g. blogs, social media, etc.).
