Google has given developers more tools to control and manage the Google Assistant in myriad devices. In addition to new languages and countries, developers can take advantage of new device management APIs in order to let consumers exercise more control over their smart hardware.
This year’s Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona from Feb 22 - 25 will see the agenda expand beyond mobile to incorporate the Internet of Things. An API meetup event on Feb 22 will focus on mobile, APIs and smart cities with speakers from Barcelona City, Built.io, Stripe, and WIP Factory.
Google distributed Chrome 56 at the end of January. Buried within for the first time, developers will find the Web Bluetooth API, which lets websites contact and trade information with nearby Bluetooth devices, such as IoT hardware. The change has some frothing at the mouth over personal privacy.
