Recently launched, Everlapse, is a free iOS app for sharing images and slideshows. Communicating with images is already a winning formula in the world of social networking, but Everlapse makes it a little more interesting by providing something that is a bit more stimulating than just static photos, but not quite as complicated as videos. In a nutshell, it allows users to create and contribute to clips which are made up of various photos and displayed as a slideshow. By providing the Everlapse API, the company also makes it possible for developers to integrate this functionality with other applications.
What happens when the API is technically secure but the environment, whether widget, web site or mashup, is not? Recent security breaches in MySpace and Yahoo, which led to the release of semi-embarrassing photos of prolific celebs Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, points out the added opportunities for hackers in the open web.
Anyone worth their weight in tweets knows the importance of the 'trending topic'. Twitter is an exceptional social tool, not only for witty banter, but for serious business too. Staying on top of trending topics is vital in the attempt to stay current and relevant, and to know what your target audience is talking about. But how relevant are the trending topics determined by Twitter? For the English speaking world; extremely relevant. For the rest of the world; not so much.
