It takes stylesheets that conform to the Mapbox Style Specification, applies them to vector tiles that conform to the Mapbox Vector Tile Specification, and renders them using OpenGL. Mapbox is an open source mapping platform for developers.

That's why Google has set a new schedule for developers in which it asks them to build their apps for Android 9 Pie starting in August. A firm deadline is set for November.
