This SDK is a ruby interface to Mapbox APIs including Geocoding and Directions. The Mapbox-sdk gem provides a way to use Mapbox web services and allows programmatic access to Mapbox tools and services that retrieve account information, upload and change resources. Mapbox is an open source mapping platform for developers.
If you've done much searching for locations using web tools--and who hasn't by now--you've likely discovered some errors along the way. Sometimes a map marker is down the street from the actual location. Geocoding, the process of converting an address to latitude/longitude coordinates, can be an inexact science. A new geocoding service from MapQuest (our MapQuest API profile) aims to help you improve where you place that marker with Address Point Data.
One of the bigger challenges with anything involving APIs is scale. As the number of APIs proliferate, the scalability demands from a management perspective become increasing untenable. Nowhere does that become more apparent than when dealing with mobile computing applications.
