This Mapbox Python SDK reads Mapbox Vector Tiles and allows access to the layers and features. The Vector-tile-py library parses Vector Tiles using the Mapbox Vector Tile Specification which is a specification for encoding tiled vector data. Vector tiles are the vector data equivalent of image tiles for web mapping, that apply the strengths of tiling and were developed for caching, scaling and serving map imagery rapidly into vector data. Mapbox is an open source mapping platform for developers.

Its Geofencing API is especially neat, as it allows developers to add triggers based on locations, time, and travel speed, or any combination of the three. It just launched a new site in an effort to reach out to more developers.
When Google announced its Maps Data API (our Google Maps API profile), it provided programmatic access to the features available in the Google My Maps product. With it, developers can create, organize and update maps. Could it also replace a database for holding geographic points?
