Last month mobile-to-mobile communications company Bump decided to share its technology, which allows for data transfer between two iPhone or Android phones. For example, its flagship iPhone app swaps contact info and photos when two phones "bump" (as in "fist bump") near each other. Bump introduced an API, but to little fanfare.
HelpSocial has released a new Open API that features enhancements for improved performance, scalability, and security. The Open API provides access to all capabilities of the platform such as streaming content from across social networks and replying to social and messaging comments.
In September ProgrammableWeb organized a track on social APIs at DataWeek. We were pleased to be supported in the effort by 3Scale. We also invited the company's Steven Willmott to share what he has seen within the rapidly-growing space of social APIs.
